The social network has developed an artificial intelligence capable of copying any style of text. Enough to imitate writing easily, even handwritten.

An AI that asks questions

The Menlo Park firm’s “TextStyleBrush” project is indeed able to imitate any font, as well as positioning the text in space. It is thus possible to modify a photo and replace the text, even if it is placed on an object.

According to Facebook, it is above all a way to detect deepfakes. But the tool can also be turned against itself, and generate falsified images. “TextStyleBrush” also aims to improve augmented reality. “ Translating text to images in different languages, creating personalized messages and captions, andmaybe one day translating road signs using augmented reality “, explains the social network.

For now, “TextStyleBrush” is only at the project stage. Artificial intelligence has some recognition problems, especially on metal surfaces or multicolored texts.
