The Cupertino company could abandon LCD technology as early as 2022.
According to the ET News site, Apple could replace the LCD panels of its iPads with OLED panels, from 2022. The computer giant would order en masse from LG and Samsung for its future tablet models.
IPads currently use LCD technology for the display, with the exception of the Pro models, which had switched to OLED panels. The adoption of the microLED format for this same model would have led Apple to review its strategy and update its product catalog.
The OLED screen is often considered more qualitative than the LCD screen, because it displays better contrasts and better color rendering.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously mentioned the adoption of OLED technology for the iPad Air range, as early as 2022.
If you plan to buy a new iPad in the next few months, postponing your purchase for a few months to wait until this upgrade could make sense.
