Smartphone maker Xiaomi presents an incredibly fast charger that breaks world records.

The speed of recharging is increasingly becoming the new determining factor for smartphone producers. Previously already there was the OnePlus 9 Pro, whose 4,500 mAh battery can be recharged in half an hour. Last year, Oppo also released a 125W fast charger capable of recharging a 4,000 mAh battery in twenty minutes.

Now, Xiaomi now introduces the 200W HyperCharge charger. According to the Chinese technology giant, the latter fully recharges a discharged battery in eight minutes. After three minutes and eighteen seconds the battery should be half charged and after 44 seconds it should be 10 percent.

Not ready for the market

However, we must add that these results were achieved with a suitable telephone. The technology is therefore not yet ready for use with a conventional smartphone. We also wonder about the safety (combustion) of it all. It would not be the first time that ambitious shippers have caused problems.

The 200W charger is also a wire model. Xiaomi also presented a 120W wireless charger capable of fully recharging a battery in a quarter of an hour. These two speeds would be world records.
