When NVIDIA launched its GeForce RTX 3070, 3080 and 3090 last September, one thing was certain: the price space left between these cards had been designed for the upcoming announcement of intermediate models.
Two new high-end graphics cards
They were slow to come to light, which can be explained quite simply: the company had to reorganize its production to ensure better delivery of existing models, while preparing for the emergence of these new references. At the same time, she was working on her hashrate limiter to decrease the interest of these GPUs for miners.
The “Super” suffix used on the previous generation is definitely forgotten. Two first cards are made official: the RTX 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti. They natively integrate the hashrate limiter, so don’t expect to see the “LHR” distinction in their reference unlike the models announced before the RTX 3060.
The first will be available this week, June 3 at retailers. It is a model almost equivalent to the RTX 3090 in terms of specifications, but with 12 GB of GDDR6X, a more compact form factor, and no NVLink. The top-of-the-range model will therefore keep the preference of the “Pro”.
On the price side, we expected it to be announced at $ 999, but NVIDIA seems rather confident, especially since all its graphics cards go like hot cakes, and does not want to penalize the 3090. It is therefore displayed at 1199 euros. The builder promises us thousands of cards on sale from day one we will check.
The RTX 3070 Ti will arrive the following week. It will logically be placed between the 3070 and 3080, at a price of 619 euros. Availability is expected this time for June 10.
Lots of new games with RTX, DLSS and / or Reflex
It is especially on the side of games that NVIDIA had surprises to unveil, the manufacturer having mentioned the growth of this market, especially among young people. “Those born today will all be gamers” ignites the company, which intends in any case to continue to sell more and more GPUs through the mode.
Until then, the manufacturer is working hard on the compatibility of popular titles with its technologies (see this list), whether it is ray tracing, DLSS, Reflex or even other tools in the field of graphic effects. , streaming, etc. Today he evokes Rainbow Six : Siege which will support DLSS in order to display ever higher performance, even on small configurations. It will be the same for Red Dead Redemption II.
Other titles also rely on ray tracing, such as Dying : 1983 or Icarus. Doom Eternal will integrate it, but without DLSS. Titles for their part add Reflex, such as War Thunder or titles specific to the Chinese market. New hardware partners are also announced. Ray tracing will soon be compatible with virtual reality adds NVIDIA. We are still waiting to see in what titles this to be expressed.
No announcements have been made on DLSS or RTX for Flight Simulator 2020 which does
