The Unreal Engine 5 is sure to be one of the hottest engines on next-gen consoles in the next few years when it comes to AAA game production. After the Unreal Engine 5 demo last week in a desert environment, we meet today in the middle of the forest.
An overview of next-gen Crysis and Far Cry?
The video of this Unreal Engine 5 demo in a forest environment is quite eye-catching, and for good reason. The developer explains that he has activated Lumen and Ray Tracing for everything related to light, Nanite for geometry, the latest technologies for shadows, but also high quality textures.
The currently offered version of the Unreal Engine 5 is not yet final and the developer says he is surprised to be able to properly run what is on the screen in such detail. It uses an RTX 2080 card and the demo runs at around 30 FPS.
Of course, this is only a technical demo here, but when you consider that the final version of the engine will probably not arrive for a year, that looks pretty promising for the games to come. We also found another video (below the first one) which shows a forest environment under Unreal Engine 5 (with an RTX 3090), but this time with a walking character, which allows to better understand the possible technical evolutions in future next-gen games.
