Digital Foundry has taken a close look at the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the upcoming AAA RPG Elden Ring.
The long-awaited role-playing game Elden Ring appears next to PC and current consoles also on consoles of the last generation. That means a lot of optimization and adaptation work for developers From Software in order to be able to perfectly stage the extensive open world and the action-packed battles on a total of seven different platforms.
How well the whole thing has already worked out based on the closed network test version on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, you can find out in the new video from Digital Foundry.
While Xbox One players have to be content with a resolution of 900p and 30FPS, the open-world role-playing game is played on the PlayStation 4 with 1080p and 30 FPS.
The shadows, textures and vegetation also look much better on the PlayStation 4. Both consoles struggle with frame rate drops in heated situations.
Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro each offer 1800p at 30FPS, whereby the Microsoft console is able to achieve a sharper image thanks to dynamic resolution.
Elden Ring will be available on February 25, 2022 for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
