The latest Iveco special model is dedicated to the TurboStar, one of the most iconic, legendary and innovative trucks of the brand. “With its powerful engine range, which also included a 420 hp V8 engine, the TurboStar was the vehicle of choice for over 50,000 customers in the 1980s,” explains Alessandro Massimino, Head of Marketing and Product Management Truck Business Unit and adds: “It shaped the streets of Europe and was one of the first trucks to take part in the Le Mans 24 Hours Iveco S-Way. It is proof of the team spirit that has always characterized us. “
The Iveco S-Way special model TurboStar is equipped with a 570 hp Cursor 13 engine, with a long rear axle ratio of 2.31: 1 for efficient downspeeding, an automated 12-speed HI-Tronix transmission, a roof and side spoiler, Full-LED headlights, driving style analysis and driver support, an integrated tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a fully automatically controlled air conditioning system and an auxiliary air conditioning system. The special model benefits from the advanced connectivity of the Iveco S-Way. These include an infotainment system with satellite navigation, the Iveco Driver Pal, a 4G connectivity box and Iveco Hi-Cruise.
The look of the icon from the eighties has been reinterpreted and modernized, whereby the TurboStar two-tone design with red and metallic gray is retained. Along the cab, adapted to the shape of the Iveco S-Way, the classic Iveco colors from this period – yellow, red and blue – are used and create an impressive effect. Many accessories that were available for vehicles from the original TurboStar era have been brought back to life to pay tribute to the Turbo range.
These include chrome bars on the roof spoiler and the side spoilers behind the cab and below the side panels, as well as chrome-plated rims and door handles. The specially developed rear window grille of the TurboStar was reproduced on the side wall of the driver’s cab. The special model of the Iveco S-Way is also equipped with a silver metallic painted radiator grille and rear-view mirror covers as well as a front protection bar on the bumper and a headlight bracket on the roof. This perfectly combines the tradition of the TurboStar and the appearance of the Iveco S-Way.
