Recently, we learned that Electronic Arts, which distributes the FIFA game, could change names next year as its license agreement with FIFA comes to an end. The American company, which considers this name to be very expensive (130 million euros per year according to the New York Times), then considered a new solution to rename its flagship game. “We are reviewing our game naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is separate from all of our other official football partnerships and licenses,” the firm explained in October.
“EA Sports FC” as a name?
Today, journalist Tariq Panja tells us that the latter could quite simply be called … “EA Sports FC”, the mark having been registered only a few days before the big announcement. A first revelation which will not fail to make the fans react, accustomed for more than two decades to the name “FIFA”.
Electronic Arts, which has distributed the FIFA video game since its inception, could rename the title following the end of its license agreement with FIFA. The American firm could quite simply name it “EA Sports FC”.
