Patch Tuesday in September 2021 gave birth to several Windows 10 updates, including KB5005565 and KB5005566. Soon after going online, problems appeared. Since then, negative reports have multiplied.

The latest maintenance offered for Windows 10 is not going as planned. In recent days, many users have complained about various problems. Whether on GinjFo, social media and Microsoft Forums, two concerns are highlighted. The first concerns a printing bug. The affected PCs can no longer use their printers. In other cases it is installation problems.

Windows 10 and KB5005565

One of our readers explains

“This patch prevents the operation of printers shared in usb error 0x0000011b, forced to uninstall the kb”

The two cumulative updates affected are KB5005565 and KB5005566. After their installation, users are victims of failure. Regarding printing, it is reported that the PC can no longer print documents using a network printer. A workaround seems to work. It consists of removing the cumulative update in question. It works with “Settings” and a command prompt.

Interestingly, Patch Tuesday for September 2021 focused on “PrintNightmare” known as CVE-2021-36958. This vulnerability allows remote code execution via a flaw affecting the Windows Print Spooler service. A hacker can gain administrative access to the PC.

Along with this printing bug, KB5005565 and KB5005566 are also associated with installation issues. On this subject one of our readers indicates

“For me, it downloads, installs it.
There were issues installing updates, but we’ll try again later. If the problem persists and you want to search the internet for information or contact support for it, this may help: (0x80070008)
Try again. ”

In some cases the situation seems to be resolved by using a manual offline process. Clearly you have to download and install the KB manually and not with Windows Update.
