Xiaomi has presented a new entry-level smartphone. The Xiaomi Redmi 10 Prime is initially only available in India and costs between 144 and 167 euros, depending on the RAM and hard drive equipment. It is not yet known when it will be available in Europe and what the price will then be.
Xiaomi Redmi 10 Prime – new entry-level smartphone
Last week, one of our news items was about the discontinuation of the “Mi” label on Xiaomi products as well as the Redmi 10 Prime, which was still pending at the time. Xiaomi has now officially presented the new smartphone, as reported by Notebookcheck. For the time being, the entry-level smartphone is only available in India, from September 7th. It costs the equivalent of 144 or 167 euros depending on whether you choose 4GB RAM with 64GB permanent storage or 6GB RAM with 128GB permanent storage. The 90 Hertz refresh rate of the display (6.5 inches, IPS, 2400×1080 pixels) is a special feature for a mobile phone from the entry-level segment, and the battery is also generously dimensioned for this segment, because it offers a full 6000 mAh.
Since the technology of the Xiaomi Redmi 10 Prime is not at the top level, such a large battery naturally ensures a very long runtime. Xiaomi uses a MediaTek Helio G88 (2x ARM Cortex A75 and 6x Cortex-A55) as the SoC. The main camera works with 50 megapixels and is supported by an 8 megapixel wide-angle camera and two sensors with 2 megapixels each. The Xiaomi interface MIUI 12.5 has Android 11 as its foundation. Users have to do without 5G. From the outside, it is very similar to the normal Xiaomi Redmi 10 and is – at least in India – listed in the colors white, black and blue. When we can expect a release in Germany is not yet known, nor is a possible sales price in Europe.
