PS5 Digital Edition: a new, lighter CFI-1100B model discovered online, with a small structural change

As players are already having a hard time getting a PlayStation 5 more than 8 months after its release, the time is obviously not for the officialization of a more evolved model. But that doesn’t mean that Sony Interactive Entertainment refrains from optimizing the structure or infrastructure of its console next-gen, as it has already done for previous generations.

The community has just discovered, on the official Japanese website of the manufacturer, a PS5 Digital Edition model whose Japanese manufacturing number is CFI-1100B. Related to CFI-1000B offered since launch, this version has a different screw for the attachment of the base, and especially a drop of 300 g for the general weight of the console without disk drive, which goes from 3.9 to 3.6 kg.

It should appear gradually in Japanese businesses in the coming weeks, and also in the rest of the world. But due to lack of stock, the PlayStation 5 are still not available for purchase at all times, unlike their games and accessories.
