Facebook becomes Official Supplier for the France 2023 Rugby World Cup

On the eve of the D-2 years of the start of the 2023 Rugby World Cup organized in France, the organizing committee formalizes the signing of a partnership contract with Facebook, which will be the Official Supplier of Social Networks.

“It is a great pride for us to see Facebook associated with a major international sporting event. After the crisis that we have just gone through, the Rugby World Cup 2023 will be the moment of celebration and sharing for French and international fans ” precise Claude Atcher, Managing Director of France 2023, in a press release. ” In and outside the stadiums, on all the applications that make Facebook the largest stadium in the world, we will be keen to amplify the experience of our supporters and to extend this bond which is dear to us. ”

This Wednesday, September 8, a Facebook Live will be organized at 6 p.m. on the Rugby World Cup France 2023 page. On the program, J-2 years celebrations with the participation of personalities from the world of rugby. Among the first activations, Facebook will offer in September a fun filter in the colors of the event.

As part of this partnership, France 2023 will try to take advantage of the giant (Facebook but also Instagram) to boost the sale of match tickets. “We sold a lot of tickets but not all tickets. If we count the tickets sold to the general public and those to privileged partners of the competition, we have sold around 1.5 million tickets, so there is still a million left to sell. We will have to look city by city for ticket buyers for the less attractive matches. The stake is not France – New Zealand of the opening but America 1-Africa 1 on a Wednesday afternoon in Lyon. We have 60,000 tickets to sell for this match and Facebook will help us, because the network is able to identify all the rugby accounts in France, nearly 14,000 to our knowledge ” clarifies Claude Atcher in an interview with the newspaper L’Equipe. Facebook claims 2.9 billion monthly active users worldwide and 40 million in France.

At the same time, the press release specifies that Facebook will train the 3,000 apprentices of the Campus 2023 program in the professional use of social networks. “This learning program, designed by France 2023, aims to train the new generation of French sports professionals, with the ambition to leave a legacy to sports clubs and regional leagues new resources to further professionalize them. Digital community communication is now essential for the organization of sporting events, and the development of sports structures, it is therefore essential to train the users of tomorrow. “

“We wanted to be associated with a sporting event on the scale of the Rugby World Cup France 2023 for two founding reasons. On the one hand, the desire to do everything to allow fans in France and around the world to vibrate together, and with their team, during this great rugby celebration, whether on Facebook or on our other applications. And, on the other hand, because we have a role to play within French society and the economy, and as such, we are delighted to be able to support the formidable training program that is Campus 2023 ” add Laurent Solly, Facebook Vice-President Southern Europe.

During Euro 2020 football, TikTok signed a partnership contract with UEFA. Enough to motivate Facebook a little more to engage with the rugby event, especially since the famous social network has been discreet in recent months in the world of sport.
