Tour de France: follow the 13th stage between Nîmes and Carcassonne

After a 12th stage led to hellish pace and won by the German rider Nils Politt on Thursday, this 13th stage cut out for sprinters promises a spectacle and beautiful scenery this Friday July 9, from the best-preserved Roman arenas in the world to the magnificent medieval city classified as a Unesco heritage. After a start from Nîmes (Gard) and a course of nearly 220 km, mainly through the Hérault department, the riders will arrive in Carcassonne (Aude) after having passed the tests of a category 4 hill at the Pic Saint -Loup and a sprint in Fontès.

Nîmes has already been a stage city 18 times, this will be the 11th time for Carcassonne.

The essentials of the 13th stage

  • A rather flat 219.9 km stage, with a category 4 climb at the Saint-Loup peak and a sprint at Fontès
  • 155 runners at the start
  • Actual departure at 12.15 p.m., arrival expected around 5.15 p.m.
