Haiti has a new Prime Minister. This is Dr. Ariel Henry, whose appointment was made official via a publication of an order in Le Moniteur on Monday, July 5. Ariel Henry is the 7th Prime Minister appointed by Jovenel Moïse, President of Haiti.

The announcement of the appointment of a new head of government had been in the pipeline for a few days in Port-au-Prince. If the observers had listed several candidates for the Prime Minister, it is therefore at the beginning of the week that President Moïse approved the appointment of his new Prime Minister.
Ariel Henry succeeds the interim Prime Minister, Claude Joseph in office since April 14, 2021. The new Haitian Prime Minister has in the past been Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities (January to September 2015) but also Minister of Social Affairs and Labor (from September 2015 to March 2016).

Dr Ariel Henry studied in France, at the University of Medicine of Montpellier, he has been head of the neurosurgery department at the Bernard Mevs hospital in Porta-Prince, since October 2014.
As soon as the appointment of Dr Henry as Prime Minister was formalized, President Jovenel Moïse reacted via his Twitter account.
For his part, the now former interim Prime Minister, Claude Joseph, welcomed this appointment.

In President Moïse’s communication, the Prime Minister’s roadmap is clear “form a government of openness including the vital forces of the Nation, solve the glaring problem of insecurity and support the CEP for the realization of the general elections and the referendum “.
At 71, Prime Minister Henry knows what awaits him and has promised to do everything for a peaceful Republic of Haiti. Its first steps will be observed and in particular in the constitution of its government team.
