New drop in the number of patients in critical care but cases of contamination are on the rise

If the number of patients with the coronavirus in critical care services continues to decrease, the contaminations are accelerating again, according to the figures of the day of Public Health France (SpF) published Monday.

The health agency counts 1,032 of these serious hospitalized cases, against 1,077 the day before and more than 2,500 a month earlier.

About thirty deaths

A total of 7,637 people are hospitalized due to Covid-19, a number that has been declining for two months. In twenty-four hours, 149 patients entered the hospital and 30 were admitted to critical care. Over the past seven days, 776 people with Covid-19 have been hospitalized and 161 admitted to critical care.

Public Health France also reported 35 people who died from Covid-19 in hospital in one day. Since the start of the epidemic, there have been 111,260 deaths in France due to the coronavirus, including 84,787 in hospital.

Contamination record since June 12

Contaminations for their part rose sharply on Monday, while many experts warned against the risk of a “fourth wave” in the coming weeks: SpF has counted 3,585 confirmed cases in twenty-four hours, the highest daily figure since June 12.

The positivity rate (percentage of people tested positive out of all the people who performed a test) is at 0.9% (consolidated over seven days), stable compared to the figure of the day before, but slightly up compared to the previous day. 0.8% recorded last week.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 34,894,204 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 51.8% of the total population) and 25,357,161 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 37.6% of the population). ), finally indicated the General Directorate of Health.
