Until now limited, the presence of the Delta variant has increased sharply in recent days. The Pyrénées-Orientales is the 12th most affected department in France.
With 45 cases over one week, the percentage of presence of the Delta variant in the Pyrénées-Orientales department jumped to 66.18% of the positive cases detected.
As of July 2 (latest data provided by Public Health France), the number of cases over a week has increased by + 275%.
In number of cases, the department is the 17th most affected in France and the 12th concerning the percentage of presence of the variant in the area.
By way of comparison, the Landes – where the main cluster of the Delta variant is located in recent weeks – has 140 cases of this mutation, which is 85% present in the positive tests screened.
The Occitanie region has not escaped a very significant increase in the number of cases of the Indian variant from 80 to 198 cases (+ 147.5%). The increases are strong in the Gard (+ 466%) and in the Hérault (+ 475%) while it is in Haute-Garonne that the number of cases is the highest (59).
Note that in Aude, only one case was recorded over a week to July 2.
