Flunch in Pau is over. The restaurant installed in the Auchan shopping center is part of a list of thirty-nine sites affected by outright closures.
“After studying all possible solutions, including disposal, these restaurants will definitively close and will not reopen by the dismissal notifications which could begin as of August 16, 2021”, wrote Friday Guillaume Lecomte, the general manager of the shareholder of these restaurants which offer all-you-can-eat buffets.
A possible takeover project for that of Lescar
The restaurant Palois was already in a first list of 57 establishments out of 161 concerned by a social plan. This was also the case for that of Lescar, built in 2018 and which is already undergoing a “temporary closure” since the start of the covid episode. However, it would still be affected by a takeover plan, as the management letter confirms: “18 restaurants are still in the potential sale project and under discussion”.
The unions, however, are not very confident about such an outcome for these eighteen restaurants, including that of Lescar. “This list of thirty-nine restaurants is only a first approach, there will be others that will not be included”, fears CGT union representative Marie-José Bienvenu.
Born in 1971, Flunch has 161 own restaurants, not franchises. It is owned by the Agapes Restauration group, itself part of the Mulliez family association, owner of Auchan.
As a reminder, Flunch was placed under backup procedure last January. The thirty-nine closures announced by the social plan should affect around 800 employees.
