Morocco will itself produce the Chinese vaccine against the coronavirus, Sinopharm, so as to acquire “short term“of 5 million doses per month. The pharmaceutical company Sothema expects a rapid rise in production.
A cooperation agreement has been concluded with the Chinese company Sinopharm, in the presence of King Mohammed VI, reports the Moroccan press agency MAP. Under this agreement, the country of 36 million people is expected to gain in “sovereignty” health matter.

The Moroccan government has also made an agreement with the Swedish firm Recipharm to establish a factory for other vaccines. Morocco is at the forefront of vaccination against Covid-19 in Africa, with 19 million doses of Sinopharm and AstraZeneca vaccines administered.
The number of infections is rising in the country, however, and the health ministry tightened the loosened restrictions in late May. Morocco has half a million infections and around 9,300 deaths from the coronavirus.
