Cherbourg: two young women run over by a fleeing driver, a call for witnesses launched

An 18-year-old and another 20-year-old were hit by a car on the night of Saturday July 3 to Sunday July 4, 2021, shortly before 4:30 a.m., rue du Val-de-Saire, in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin.

Head trauma

If the named second is slightly injured, the first was hospitalized. “She had a head trauma, bruises everywhere, seven stitches in the arch, her glasses broken”, testifies her aunt, reached by telephone on Monday.

The young woman left the Cotentin public hospital on Sunday afternoon. However, she will have to wait for the result of the blood test taken at the hospital before being able to file a complaint at the police station.

The victim’s family were able to see video surveillance of the Domino’s Pizza establishment : “It was exactly 4:23 am. We see her getting hit and robbed. The person who was with it just fell on the buttocks ”. Also according to the family, three young men rescued the two young women and called for help. The driver continued on his way.

Investigation opened and call for witnesses launched

Contacted, the police commander-assistant to the district chief confirmed the facts : “A gray vehicle hit two pedestrians at the corner of avenue Reibell and rue du Val-de-Saire. Both are injured. The vehicle struck a sign post and fled. The investigation is ongoing ”.

The police station is the recipient of any other information likely to advance this investigation.
