The delta variant continues to spread in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The scope for progress in vaccination is strong according to the Regional Health Agency, which encourages the hesitant “to take the plunge”.
Press release from the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Regional Health Agency of July 2, 2021:
COVID-19 IN BURGUNDY-FRANCHE-COMTE:
The delta variant spreads: vaccinate faster and more!
New clusters have been identified in recent days in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, where the delta variant continues to spread. On the eve of the summer holidays, the ARS calls on the hesitant to take the step of vaccination. Their mobilization is decisive in keeping the risk of an epidemic resumption away.
Jura, Doubs, Haute-Saône: the list of identified clusters has grown even longer in recent days in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Common point: the L452R mutation of the virus, reminiscent of the delta variant, whose contagious potential poses the risk of a fourth epidemic wave.
The share of this mutation has more than doubled in one week in the region, to settle around 34% of positive tests, reaching even up to 68% in the Jura.
In this context, it is high time to get vaccinated, by going to a vaccination center near your home or by approaching your health professional, the Pfizer vaccine being now available in the city circuit.
The vaccination process is quick and easy, especially since, as a reminder, the time between two injections has been relaxed (it is from 21 to 49 days). The ARS recalls in this regard that two doses are necessary for effective vaccination coverage (a single dose if the person has already had COVID for more than 2 months).
End of the exam period for the youngest, school and working holidays … It’s time to seize your chance to spend a serene summer and consider an immune return.
The notable effort of the population of the region (nearly 52% has now received at least a first injection) remains to be pursued and amplified, in particular among 18 to 49 year olds, whose vaccination coverage remains below 50%.
Out of 105,000 doses allocated to the centers of the 8 departments this week, only 45,000 found takers, which is to say if the margin for improvement is strong!
A trompe-l’oeil retreat
With regard to the global epidemic circulation, the incidence in the general population remains in decline and below the alert threshold, as does the rate of positivity of the tests.
This drop must be interpreted with caution since it actually masks an epidemic in the already very dynamic epidemic: that of the delta variant.
Still more than 350 patients are hospitalized in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, including around thirty in critical care. Each inhabitant has his share of responsibility so that these figures do not start to rise again.
For 16 months, in the region, the coronavirus has caused 4,835 deaths in health establishments; 2,296 in medico-social establishments.
