No change at the head of Ile-de-France. Valérie Pécresse retains her chair president of the region. She was re-elected this Friday morning.
The installation session of the new Île-de-France regional council began at 10:00 am in the Simone Veil hemicycle in Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis) with 196 regional advisers present.
Babette de Rozières who chaired the meeting first congratulated the elected officials on their election. She added: “Let us be worthy of our mandates … our goal is the well-being of all Ile-de-France residents … I hope that our discussions will be constructive, peaceful and respectful“.
There were two candidates for the presidency of the Region: Valérie Pécresse and Paul Vannier (France Insoumise).
Valérie Pécresse, unsurprisingly, wins hands down with 125 votes against 12 to Paul Vannier. There were 134 blank or spoiled ballots.
