The French team’s second match at Euro 2021 against Hungary (1-1) on Saturday afternoon gathered 12.3 million viewers on TF1, co-broadcaster of the meeting with beIN Sports. A big audience card even if the Blues had done better for their entry into the running against Germany.
Failing to win on the field, the Blues won the match of the audience hands down. Saturday, for their second meeting at Euro 2021, the players of Didier Deschamps again exploded the ratings. On the occasion of the match against Hungary (1-1), in the middle of the afternoon in Budapest (the kick-off was at 3 p.m.), the French team gathered 12.3 million viewers on TF1. The private channel co-broadcast the meeting with beIN Sports, which did not provide its figures. Anyway, this is a huge audience card for TF1 which peaked at 14.6 million and above all a market share of 70%.

It promises for Portugal-France
The first channel, however, does less well than the first match of the Blues, France-Germany, Tuesday evening. This shock broadcast on M6 and won by the Habs was followed by 15 million viewers (57.5% market share). The timetable of Hungary-France, on a Saturday afternoon, and the opponent’s standing, clearly less attractive than the Mannschaft, partly explain this very relative drop in audience (-3 million).
We will undoubtedly have to expect another very high score on Wednesday evening for the 3rd and last group match against Portugal (9pm in Baku). A high-stakes match that will be broadcast on TF1 and beIN Sports. In 2006, the semi-final of the World Cup between the Blues and the partners of Cristiano Ronaldo had gathered 22.2 million viewers, more than the final of the Euro in 2016 (20.8).
