Hazard has injured his knee and will not play the game against Finland.
Thorgan Hazard will not make the trip to St Petersburg, where the Red Devils will face Finland on Monday in their third Euro Group B meeting. The Belgian Union announced it on Twitter on Sunday.
Hazard had not trained with the squad on Saturday. The day before, coach Roberto Martinez had indicated that he had “received a small blow on the knee”, but that it was “nothing to worry about”.
After their 1-2 victory over Denmark, with a goal precisely from Thorgan Hazard, the Red Devils have already qualified for the knockout stages. The game against Finland will be used to determine where they finish the group stage. Currently, Roberto Martinez’s troops lead Group B with 6 points, three more than Finland and Russia. Denmark brings up the rear with 0 points.
Roberto Martinez must also do without Timothy Castagne, victim of six facial fractures in the victory against Russia (3-0) a week ago.
