The Council of Ministers approved at first reading two draft decrees relating to the allocation of Inami numbers. It would be a question of increasing the quotas on the condition of establishing a competition on the French-speaking side.

Lhe health crisis had put aside, for a time, the thorny issue of Inami numbers. Like a chestnut tree, the debate around the attribution of this precious sesame is back in force. The federal government will soon decide on the quota to be granted for the year 2027 (which concerns students who will enter medicine in September), as well as on the number of additional candidates authorized for the year 2021 (they have started their studies in 2015 but the number of potential winners exceeds the quota set at the time). On the proposal of the Minister of Health Franck Vandenbroucke (Vooruit), the Council of Ministers approved this Friday at first reading two draft orders. Except that French and Flemish speakers do not seem quite on the same wavelength. This point was postponed last week due to lack of consensus.
