He will now “set things in motion”.

Goalscorer Erling Haaland feels pressured by Borussia Dortmund in deciding his future. “I really just want to play football, but they’re pushing me,” said Haaland after the 5-1 (3-0) win in the Bundesliga’s top game against SC Freiburg on Norwegian TV broadcaster Viaplay Fotball.

This is sure to cause creases at BVB. Most recently, Dortmund were still confident that Haaland could stay. “There are a few reasons why we are in very, very good hands and why we as a club can continue to be a very, very good option for him,” said license player boss Sebastian Kehl just last week.

But the Norwegian’s words now suggest something else. Especially since advisor Mino Raiola is said to have recently spoken of a change.

“The club puts me under pressure”

He has “not said anything out of respect for Dortmund for the last six months, I let everyone else around the world speak. But the club is putting pressure on me to make a decision,” Haaland complained after his brace, adding: “And that probably means I have to make a decision now. You want an answer. That means things have to happen.”

The 21-year-old still has a contract with BVB until June 2024. However, he can leave the DFB Cup winner in the summer because of an exit clause for 75 million euros. Those responsible for BVB recently stated that they want to meet with Haaland and those around him soon to clarify the future of the storm jewel.

“Will set things in motion”

“I don’t want to think about anything but football because it gets difficult when I have other things on my mind, but they’ve been pushing for so long now that I’m going to start things,” said Haaland. In an “ideal world” he would not decide now: “We are in a tough phase with a lot of games, I really only want to play football, but I can’t.”

Haaland, who stands for BVB after his brace with 78 goals in 77 competitive games, is on the list of almost all top clubs in Europe – clubs like Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea or . However, the best chances are counted towards Real Madrid and Manchester City. (AFP/sme)
