Wild fall of Sofia Goggia at the Ski World Cup downhill in Zauchensee

Zauchensee – Today a women’s downhill took place in Zauchensee, Austria. The Italian Sofia Goggia went into the race in Salzburger Land as the big favorite due to her performances this season. She went about things very energetically and was not deterred by small insecurities. On the contrary: it always stayed fully in position and under tension, before a slip in compression destroyed all hopes of success. The athlete from Bergamo hit hard and landed in the safety net.

Visibly dazed and probably in shock, Goggia quickly got to her feet. She also gave the thumbs up. So it can be said that the azure athlete was lucky and probably not seriously injured. One thing is clear: she will also be unsuccessful in the sixth race on the Salzburg snow. Small consolation for her will be the fact that she was leading Kira Weidle from Germany for more than four tenths of a second at the second split. And the DSV athlete is not just anyone, after all she set the best time in the first test run.
