The number of classes closed in France because of Covid-19 has been rising steadily since the start of the school year. This Saturday, January 15, 2022, there are thus a little more than 14,000 throughout the territory.
Just two weeks after the Back to School, and while France is facing a fifth wave of Covid important, what about the school health situation ? the variant Omicron, which made its appearance at the end of November, reshuffled the cards because of its high potential for contamination. In schools, despite the health protocol set up, the number of closed classes is on the rise, with almost 14 000 in all of France.
Airy classes, compulsory masks, isolation of case-contacts, so many measures that do not seem to put an end to the circulation of the virus in schools. The purpose of the teachers’ strike on Thursday was to denounce this mismanagement of the crisis within the National Education. With 14,380 classes closed and 331,715 isolated students, the numbers are not good. It is the whole functioning of the school that is struggling to cope, while many staff are also forced to isolate themselves.
The latest health protocol, lightened by Jean Castex last Tuesday, imposes upon detection of a covid positive student, that all his comrades do a test, before a autotest on D + 2 then on D + 4. IF the first self-test is negative, the child can return to school.A situation that both children and parents do not support, and which also poses logistical concerns in pharmacies, since it is a question of testing entire classes in a limited time.

Less than a week after the implementation of a new level 3 health protocol in schools, the latter has already been relaxed even though more than 9,000 classes are currently closed in France. [Lire la suite]
