The Fiji men’s and women’s teams withdrew on Saturday for the Malaga (Spain) leg of the world circuit, which will take place next weekend, after some players tested positive for Covid-19. The Fijian Federation said the latter were in good health and asymptomatic.

The Fiji women’s team is second in the circuit, after the first two stages, while the men, reigning Olympic champions, are sixth.

New Zealand had already forfeited

New Zealand’s men’s and women’s teams had already withdrawn from the fixture in Malaga as border restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic prevented them from returning home immediately after the tournament.

After Malaga, there will be a second tournament in Spain, in Seville, from January 28 to 30.
