A dramatic accident took place this Tuesday, June 1 in the town of Charentilly, in Indre-et-Loire. The driver of a van, in his thirties and traveling on the RD938, died in a rather rare car accident. He was killed by an iron rod that visibly fell from an oncoming vehicle. The rod pierced the windshield and the victim was killed instantly. He was alone in the vehicle.
His pickup truck, which was carrying dirt, ended its race against two vehicles parked a little further away. One of the crashed cars was thrown against a utility pole, causing a power cut in a house.
At the time of the tragedy, a driver was following the van. He witnessed the whole scene and was not injured. The vehicle which lost the iron rod has still not been identified by the gendarmes.
