David Weiser, spokesperson for the Jewish community of Quebec and co-founder of Unit Quebec, will be the candidate of Team Savard in the district of Plateau, learned The Journal.

The information will be formalized Tuesday afternoon at a press briefing during which four candidates, including Mr. Weiser, will be confirmed by the political party of the outgoing mayor, Régis Labeaume.

Located in Sainte-Foy, the Plateau is currently represented by the vice-president of the executive committee, Rémy Normand, who recently announced that he will not seek a new mandate.

From business to the community

Coming from the business world, Mr. Weiser is a pioneer in the field of video games in Quebec, because he was the first to create a studio of this kind, in 1991.

Strongly marked by the January 2017 attack at the Great Mosque of Quebec, he co-founded the Unity Quebec group “to promote living together by organizing events that allow Quebec citizens of various origins to discover and get to know each other better. », We read in his biography.

During the pandemic, he became involved in the community world by working within SOS Ensemble Québec.
