QUÉBEC, May 31, 2021 / CNW Telbec / – Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Mr.me Marie-Claude Bibeau, and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mr. André Lamontagne, announce that companies in organic production or in organic transition are now also eligible for the increase in the maximum financial assistance granted under the Advisory Services Program (PSC) to simplify access to assistance measures and to increase the impact on agricultural and agrifood businesses.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) wanted to better meet the needs of the evolving agricultural sector and the craze for the PSC. Businesses in organic production or in organic transition are thus added to groups that were already entitled to the increase, increasing the maximum assistance from $ 30,000 to $ 40,000, that is, start-up businesses and emerging businesses.
In addition, the terms organic certification and biological conversion have been added to the PSC definitions, allowing this particular group of companies to be qualified.
These changes support the implementation of the 2018-2025 Biofood Policy – Power our world, which advocates continuing to grow the organic sector and supporting the development of successful, sustainable businesses.
“Quebeckers want to eat local, and organic products are an integral part of the food offer here. This improvement in advisory services will allow organic producers to grow their businesses and meet growing demand. We salute their contribution and we will continue to ensure the financial health of our agricultural businesses. “
L’honorable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food
“Improving the Advisory Services Program is a priority for me. The organic sector is booming, and it is important to contribute to its development. I am happy that agricultural businesses can count on support to reach their full potential and to take advantage of the business opportunities that present themselves to them. An efficient and competitive agricultural sector serves all of Quebec. This is one more step towards increasing our food autonomy. “
Mr. André Lamontagne, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Minister responsible for the Chaudière-Appalaches region and Minister responsible for the Center-du-Québec region

- The PSC, co-funded under the Canada-Quebec Accord for the implementation of the Canadian Partnership for Agriculture, annually invests, through the Agriconseils networks, nearly $ 30 million for advisory services to agricultural and agrifood businesses. .
- The Canada-Quebec Accord for the implementation of the Canadian Partnership for Agriculture represents funding from the federal government (60%) and the Government of Quebec (40%) totaling $ 293 million over a period of five years, from 2018 to 2023.
