The competitions are gradually resuming. Suddenly, some organizers, so far cautious, come out of the woods and announce the holding of their events. At the level of the federation, this makes it possible to formalize the holding of certain championships. Thus, for the component “outside the stadium”, three dates have been formalized, all revolving around the trail. Each time, these are Belgian championships.
Here’s what’s now official
> Belgian mountain running championship: As planned for the past fortnight, it will take place in Malmedy, roughly on the same circuit as that used in the last editions. Should be there: Florent Caelen (title holder), Nicolas Bucci, Régis Thonon and, perhaps, Maximilien Drion.
> Belgian Vertical Kilometer Championship: This is a first as an event recognized by the federation (a “zero” edition had taken place at the same place last year). This championship will take place on July 1 in Targnon and will consist of 3 identical climbs of 335 meters, each start being separated by one hour from the previous one.
> Belgian medium and long distance trail championship: Here is the chef’s surprise. Replacing the Ohm trail, it will be the Boitheux trail (Theux) which will host these two nationals on September 4th. The two routes will be 34 to 36 km for 1000 D + and 66 to 69 km (2200 D +).
Although it is not yet official, all these championships should serve as selection races for the World Trailers which will take place in Thailand in November of this year.
