Two brawls broke out this Sunday at the end of the afternoon, an hour apart in the agglomeration of Montargis, indicates the prosecutor of the Republic of Montargis Loïc Abrial. An investigation is opened, in particular to find out if there is a link between these two fights between young people.
First fight in Montargis, Kennedy district
The first brawl breaks out in Montargis around 6.30 p.m., between several young people, in the Kennedy district, rue Saint-Just. Several people present in a park in the immediate vicinity then call on passers-by to take shelter and protect their children. But a woman who is in the park with her family is wounded in the back of the head by a projectile, “probably metallic”, says prosecutor Loïc Abrial. Supported by firefighters and heard by the police, she lodged a complaint.
A second brawl in Amilly, an hour later
One hour later, at 7:30 p.m., the national police intervened in Amilly, in the greater Montargoise area. There, about five young people were slightly injured after a fight. “Regarding the weapons used, they are rather blunt objects, and not firearms”, explains Loïc Abrial. A police source mentions “hammers and pieces of wood” used as weapons, in the Terres-Blanches district of Amilly. After the fight, the injured refused to be taken care of by the firefighters, and did not file a complaint.
In this district of Amilly, several vehicles were damaged during the fight, their owners lodged a complaint, in particular for broken windows.
An investigation for aggravated violence opened, no arrests (yet)
The police did not make any arrests on Monday evening. An investigation is underway for aggravated violence, degradation in assembly and with weapons. Police are looking to see if there is a link between the two incidents. The police, who fear reprisals between the two groups of young people, increased surveillance in these neighborhoods.
