On the weekend of June 5 and 6, 2021, two of the gymnasts from the gymnastics school of Jassans-Riottier will participate in the French Elite artistic gymnastics championship, which will take place in Mouilleron-le-Captif in Vendée.
This year, once again disrupted by the health crisis, did not allow to resume classes and the sports season saw all gymnastics competitions canceled.
Only the French Elite championship has been maintained, which allows qualifying for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games for athletes in the “Senior” categories.
In the “Future” category (10/11 year old gymnasts), two gymnasts from the Jassans Gymnastics School qualified and will thus represent the club at the highest national level (two titles awarded).
During the weekend, 149 gymnasts will compete in the Vendespace to win the national titles in the categories Future, Hope, Junior and Senior. This competition, which will be the last of the season for a large number of gymnasts, will also serve for some senior women as the final stage of selection to join the Olympic team.
Regrets for Thaïs Adam, who narrowly missed the qualification
It is therefore Inaya Lamri and Margaux Segura, two deserving young girls because training with the context of the health crisis was not easy, who will compete for the highest national level.
There is a regret for Thaïs Adam (category “Junior”), who misses his selection by little. Despite a very good performance during the qualifications which took place at INSEP on May 8.
Among the qualities required, there is 90% flexibility, 80% elegance, and 40% strength. For apparatus, the jump requires dynamism and acrobatics; uneven bars require strength and agility; the beam requires balance and elegance; the ground acrobatics also.
The EGJ Club, and the municipality of Jassans-Riottier are proud of their gymnasts and wish good luck to Inaya and Margaux who will meet the best French gymnasts on June 6 in Mouilleron-le-Captif (Vendée).
This is the number of participants vying for the national titles of the discipline.
