THE EU TO ISSUE IN JUNE A FIRST “COVID” LOAN OF 10 BILLION EUROS, DECLARES BEAUNE
PARIS (Reuters) – The first issue of European common debt, in June, is expected to reach an amount of around 10 billion euros, said Clément Beaune, French secretary of state for European affairs, in an interview with Les Echos.
For the first time, the European Commission will borrow on behalf of the EU to finance economic stimulus measures to combat the effects of the pandemic.
Asked by the business daily to say what will be the amount of this first issue, he declares: “Around 10 billion euros. Market appetite should be very high and interest rates very favorable.”
