Vaccines: Switzerland remains uncompromising on patents

Didier Chambovey, Swiss Ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO) reiterated, during a press briefing on Thursday, the Confederation’s refusal to request a temporary exemption from patents on vaccines, treatments and diagnostics linked to Covid-19. As the organization’s 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) approaches and as many countries go through a fifth wave of the pandemic, the topic has emerged as the most emotional but also the most central on the agenda of the 164 countries which will be represented in Geneva from November 30 to December 3.
