Covid-19 – Contact cases, systematic tests, prices: what changes await children at school from November 29?

We tell you everything about this new protocol which will come into force in all French schools from Monday, November 29

This Thursday, November 25, Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced on strengthening of restrictive measures to face the 5e wave of Covid-19. Among them, the return of wearing a mask is compulsory inside, the opening of the 3e vaccine dose to all adults but also a new protocol at school.

In fact, in primary, college and high school classes in Metropolitan France, the current protocol is said to be “level 2”. He understands :

– maintaining reinforced ventilation and hand washing measures.

– the wearing of a mask is compulsory indoors for all staff and for all students from elementary school.

– the limitation of mixing by compulsory level.

– disinfection of the surfaces most frequently touched several times a day and of the dining hall tables after each service.

“This protocol continues to apply and it is supplemented by a tracing protocol which aims to identify declared Covid cases and contact cases”, specified Jean-Michel Blanquer.

A new protocol from November 29

Indeed, in college and high school, a student with a complete vaccination schedule continues face-to-face lessons. While the contact cases at risk switch to distance learning for 7 days. With this current protocol, “secondary education can cross the 5e vague”, assures the Minister of National Education.

TO primary school and kindergarten, on the other hand, a case of Covid leads to closing a class. Result: 8,500 closed classes were listed on Wednesday, impacting 180,000 families. Which should change next week. Indeed, from Monday November 29, a protocol tested in 10 departments since 1is October will be generalized to the whole country.

As of next Monday, when a student tests positive, all students in the class will be tested in turn. “Only positive comrades will stay at home”, says Blanquer. “There will therefore no longer be systematic class closures from the first case, but systematic screening of the whole class. In other words, only students with a negative test will be able to return to class”.

a test which can be carried out by the legal representatives (in pharmacy, laboratory or in any other structure that performs tests), “Either through the presence of laboratories in the school establishment. This will become more precise and will be carried out throughout the next week”, depending on the territory, since all the departments do not have the same structures in this area.

With some tests obviously free for minors.

We pursue two fundamental objectives: to keep schools open while protecting the health of students and staff.
