Knife attack in Brigittenau: suspect transferred to prison

The apparently mentally ill man who attacked several passers-by indiscriminately with a knife in Vienna-Brigittenau on Tuesday afternoon and injured four people, has been transferred to a prison. According to the police, an interrogation was not possible due to the psychological condition. None of the victims was in mortal danger. A religious or political motive was excluded from the executive.

The 35-year-old Austrian had entered a snack bar on Klosterneuburger Strasse around 2 p.m. and took a knife, whereupon those present immediately fled outside. Thereupon the 35-year-old also left the restaurant and attacked four people indiscriminately with the gun in the Klosterneuburger Straße / Othmargasse intersection.
