Within a few hours there was a crash on the A1 near Ansfelden on Wednesday for the second time. The motorway is currently closed again.

The emergency services are simply not coming to rest along the western motorway near Ansfelden (Linz-Land district). Only around 12.30 p.m. did a driver lose control of his car shortly before the Haid junction in the direction of Vienna. For reasons that were still unexplained, the driver from the Vöcklabruck district subsequently got off the lane, his car overturned and its roof remained on the guardrail.

The stuck handlebars had to be freed from the demolished wreck by the helpers. The A1 had to be closed in this area for the duration of the rescue and clean-up work. A traffic jam up to five kilometers long formed.

And as soon as the traffic started rolling again, the emergency services were challenged again. Not even two hours later, more precisely at 2:20 p.m., there was another crash not far from the first scene of the accident. “There are at least four cars involved. There are also injured”, so the initial information after one “Today”-Call the autobahn police in Haid (district Linz-Land). According to initial information, several vehicles are involved.

Also two children among the injured

Two children are also said to be among the victims. They were apparently trapped in one of the accident vehicles and had to be freed from it. Then one of the children was flown to the hospital by rescue helicopter, it is said.

The A1 had to be completely blocked again immediately after the serious crash. A considerable backlog is already forming. How long the total lockdown will last is not yet known.
