This tragedy shakes all of Hollywood. On Thursday, actor Alec Baldwin (63) accidentally shot camerawoman Halyna Hutchins († 42) with his prop weapon on the set of his film “Rust”. Director Joel Souza (48) was injured in the shoulder, but has since left the hospital.

According to police records, Alec Baldwin aimed at the camera in one scene, and the fatal shot was released. Director Joel Souza remembers the terrible day: “The day started late because a camera crew had given notice and another team had to be found.”
Since six employees had quit because of the poor working conditions, only one camera was available to shoot. During a rehearsal, Baldwin pointed the gun at the camera.

The police report says: «While Joel Halyna looked over his shoulder and watched the camera angle, he heard (…) a loud bang. Then Joel saw Halyna grab her hip and stumble backwards. “
Cinematographer Reid Russell (31), who was standing right next to it, saw the tragedy up close. “Reid remembers that Joel has blood on his body. Halyna says she couldn’t feel her legs. “
The paramedics called can no longer save Hutchins, she dies shortly after the incident in the hospital. The camerawoman leaves behind her husband Matthew and son Andros (9).
