The alleged rapist, aged 67 at the material time, has been appearing before the Montpellier criminal court since Monday, October 25 for “surprise rapes”, a first in France. Two abused women testified today; each time they evoke the same scenario.
Jack Sion, 74 today, was posing as a 37-year-old playboy. Under the pseudonym of Anthony Laroche, Monegasque interior designer, he manipulated women he met on the Internet. Before inviting them to his place.
At her home plunged into darkness, the women were then tied to the bed, blindfolded, ignorant of the true identity of the one with whom they were going to exchange sex.
The ploy is repeated: a scenario worthy of the novel “50 Shades of Gray” – less consent. At the home of the accused, investigators found a notebook containing nearly 350 names and descriptions of women. If 3 of them filed a complaint, they could be dozens, if not hundreds, to have been victims of the deception.
“The only thing I could hold on to was her voice“, a reassuring voice, explains one of the victims in front of Brut’s camera.”He told me : go to the bathroom, take off your clothes, put on the blindfold and when you’re ready, come get me, I’ll bring you back to the bedroom “.
Deceived by his fine words, she goes to his place without suspicion. And does not notice the subterfuge until the end of the report, when she manages to remove her blindfold.
On the evening of the music festival, the room is lit by street lamps. And the man who is at her side has nothing to do with Anthony Laroche, with whom she had already exchanged for several weeks – including by phone. “I am with a stranger to whom I have never spoken, and especially to whom I have never given my consent.“.
In front of the court, two women have already been able to testify. They described the same modus operandi.
A “fear of aging”?
One of the women victims of the manipulations of the accused did not file a complaint, reports our reporter present in court. She also deceived about her identity, she explains, once past the feelings of anger and betrayal, having “sought to understand“. And describes a man.”instable“, consumed by the fear of growing old and of being alone, with whom a relationship of friendship even ends up being established.
A psychological expertise noted yesterday that the accused was on the contrary “a compulsive seducer“.
The verdict of the trial, which comes after a long legal battle to determine whether the charges were sufficient, is expected to be known as early as Thursday, October 28.
Already heard for similar facts, Jack Sion had never been prosecuted. But he now faces up to 20 years in prison.
