An Aare Seeland Mobil train and a car collided on an unsecured level crossing in Gerolfingen BE on Wednesday morning. The accident happened shortly before 7 a.m.

According to initial findings, the driver intended to cross the level crossing in order to turn from Wagnerstrasse into the main road. At the same time, the train was leaving Täuffelen station in the direction of Mörigen. Then there was a crash. The car was then wedged between the train and a wall. The train was lifted off the rails in the crash.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are in progress

The car was totaled. Nobody was injured, as the canton police wrote in a message.

The exact reason for the collision is unclear and is being clarified. Corresponding investigations have been started.
