While the Covid pandemic is slowing down in many countries thanks to vaccination, the WHO emergency committee warns, this Tuesday, October 26, that the pandemic is “far from over”.

The situation is still incredibly dynamic. And it is dynamic because we do not have control of this virus. “This is what the person responsible for managing the Covid epidemic told theWorld Health Organization, Maria Van Kerkhove, on October 5 during live exchanges on WHO social networks.

Although the circulation of the virus is slowing in several countries, thanks to vaccination, “we are not out of the woods yet. We are completely in the middle of this pandemic. But where in the middle … we don’t know yet, because frankly we’re not using the tools we have right now to get closer to the end. In some cities we see intensive care units and hospitals overcrowded and people dying while on the streets people behaving as if (the epidemic) is completely over. ” she warned.

This Tuesday, October 26, 2021, the WHO emergency committee also wanted to to alert as to the fact that the Covid pandemic was “far from over”. Chaired by Didier Houssin, the emergency committee meets every three months to take stock of the world health situation. In its latest report released on Tuesday, the committee states that “While progress has been made through increased use of Covid-19 vaccines and treatments, analysis of the current situation and forecasting models indicate that the pandemic is far from over.”

Still according to the WHO emergency committee, “the pandemic is still an extraordinary event which continues to damage the health of populations around the world, presents a risk of international spread and of disruption of international traffic, and requires a coordinated international response.”

Also, does the committee call on states to recognize all vaccines which have received emergency use authorization “ from the WHO, namely the vaccines Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Johnson & Johnson and Astrazeneca.
