Last Saturday, the ProSieben show got off to a hot start in the fifth season. “The Masked Singer” was able to build on the success of the last few seasons on the new slot and improve its quotas with almost three million viewers prevail against competitors like “Das Supertalent”.
And the first unmasking was pretty fiery too: The chilli had to be their identity reveal and caused a huge surprise. Because in the red glitter costume was none other than “Tagesschau” spokesman Jens Riewa. That was the first of ten celebrities out.
Comedian or footballer?
Now the second mask fell. The hammerhead shark could not convince the audience in front of the screens with his performance to “Vamos A La Playa”. After the performance, the advice team in the studio had puzzled who it might be. Rea Garvey guessed moderator Elton because of the entertainment qualities. Janin Ullmann, who was there to support this time, also believed in comedy talent and called Atze Schröder. Ruth Moschner, however, was convinced that footballer Pierre Littbarski was in the hammerhead – and was actually right.
The former professional footballer and later coach pulled the mask off his head and caused cheers in the studio. “It was more exhausting than Rome,” he alluded to the 1990 World Cup, where he won the title with Germany, and admitted: “My nerves were fluttering!”
We still have to go to the grand finale on November 20th eight other celebrities drop their masks live on television. As an innovation, another costume has been added this time: The tiger appears exclusively in an online show and parallel to the TV broadcast. He too will reveal his identity in the last episode.
Then it will be decided who will win the fifth season of “The Masked Singer”. The astronaut won the first edition. Max Mutzke hid under the costume. After him, Tom Beck was named the winner as the sloth. Last fall, the show won a woman for the first time: Sarah Lombardi sang herself to victory as a skeleton. Most recently, Sasha won as a dinosaur.
