Six young athletes from the Limoux Sport Adapté 11 association, in partnership with the Limoux IME, took part this weekend in the French Adapted Cross Championship in Anduze (30).
Several times postponed due to the sanitary situation, this 2021 edition of the French championship was finally able to take place, on courses traced in the middle of the vines, lit by a magnificent autumnal sun and with the Cévennes in the background.
And the least we can say is that our athletes have all honored our colors. Thereby, Sophie Hunnekink becomes champion of France U21 BC on 2 000 m in a race controlled from start to finish and an emotional finish. His will and his aggressiveness allowed him to climb to the top step of the podium.
Pierrick Bernat and Damien Mounie, aligned on the same race in the U21 BC category on 2 000 m, both stand on the podium in second and third place respectively.
Angelo Dias Dos Santos becomes vice-champion of France in the U14 BC category out of 1 000 m and will have known how to surpass himself and go to the end of himself, to conquer this second place.
Dorian Picking Vergens grabs a magnificent fourth place in its U18 BC category out of 2 000 mr. Long in the fight for a bronze medal, a fall at the end of the course will get the better of a well-deserved podium.
Lucas Durand finished in a very honorable fifth place with one of his best performances in the race, in a U16 BC category out of 2 000 m extremely relieved.
Despite the intense physical effort, these athletes still found the strength to celebrate their results during the gala evening, thus concluding a prolific weekend.
