Bettié – A vaccination campaign against measles, rubella and polio is taking place in Bettié (East, Indénié-Djuablin region) at the initiative of the Abengourou health district.
This free vaccination campaign, which started on Friday, October 15, 2021, will last seven days with the target of children from nine months to five years old, especially those who have not yet received polio vaccines, due to the stock shortage in global level from 2016 to 2018.
According to the communication focal point, nurse-major Niangoran Lydie, the department is not declared an endemic area. However, cases have been recorded in some localities such as Bettié, Borobo and Appronpron.
She therefore urges parents to have their children vaccinated in order to “protect them against these dangerous diseases”.
The vaccination campaign is funded by WHO, GAVI (The Vaccine Alliance) and UNICEF.
