ASPTT Caen has already achieved one of the exploits of this season in the Coupe de France. For the entry into the running of the National clubs, in the 5th round, the Norman club, resident of R1, eliminated US Avranches, which plays three divisions higher.
Quickly reduced to ten after the expulsion of Sofiane Naïli (9th), the Caen resisted until the penalty shootout, during which they ended up winning (0-0, 4-3 in the tab ) thanks to a save by their goalkeeper Clément Pannier. This elimination comes shortly after a heavy defeat conceded against Red Star (0-6) in the Championship for Avranches, current eleventh in the National. Two other National clubs have left the competition. Annecy, released by Rumilly Vallières (N2, 2-3), semi-finalist last season, and Boulogne-sur-Mer, surprised by Tourcoing (R1, 0-1).
