World Cup start on Rettenbachferner without Kriechmayr

Vincent Kriechmayr decided after Saturday’s training on the racing slope in Sölden that he would not start at the World Cup Opening in a week. For the 30-year-old Upper Austrian, the 20-year-old junior world champion Lukas Feurstein will join the ÖSV line-up for the giant slalom on October 24th. Kriechmayr was celebrated as athlete of the year 2021 in Vienna on Thursday.

The double world champion of Cortina d’Ampezzo 2021 is already focusing on the speed competitions at the start of the season and will train on the Rettenbach glacier descent in the week after the Sölden giant slalom. On November 6th, Austria’s men’s speed team will train in Copper Mountain in the USA and from there to the three World Cup speed races in Lake Louise, Canada (November 26th to 28th).
