The Microsoft Flight Simulator is actually touted as a realistic flight simulation for professionals, in which players have to pay attention to the smallest details in order to survive in the air. A new modification that adds various tracks from the Nintendo classic Mario Kart proves that things can get crazy here too.
Modder adds tracks from Mario Kart 8
The modder came up with this brilliant idea
. During a Twitch livestream, he showed seven courses from Mario Kart 8 (Wii U and Switch). Illogicoma explained via Twitter that he extracted the 3D models from Mario Kart 8 in order to then convert them into a custom modification with the add-on Blender2MSFS. Instead of driving over these routes, the player must of course fly these maps. However, this mod is not yet fully developed. On the one hand, all objects just float in the air. Furthermore, the modder could not yet implement a collision query, which is why the courses actually only serve as staffage. Checkpoints inserted by the modder also have no function.
So anyway I thought mario kart 8 tracks would also be fun when you play them in flight simulator so I put mario kart 8 tracks in flight simulator and played them and it was true. pic.twitter.com/Gbn5kRfg92— ᑎYᗩᖇᒪᒪOGIᑕᕼOTEᑭ ✨ (@Illogicoma) August 29, 2021
Microsoft Flight Simulator: Update for Germany, Austria and Switzerland postponed to September
With a little imagination and a playful instinct, you can still get fun out of the mod. This is also proven by the Twitch livestreams, in which Illogicoma flew to the bet with his friends. With the Mario Kart soundtrack in the background, there could probably be even more mood. But it’s also a shame that there are no tanks or items. Maybe something will come in the future.
