Life-saving flight for 52-year-old corona patient to St. Pölten

On Friday the ÖAMTC intensive care transport helicopter Christophorus 33 was alerted to Stockerau because of a life-threatening situation of a corona patient. A 52-year-old woman came to the hospital with unspecific symptoms such as diarrhea, loss of appetite and general weakness, but with an oxygen saturation level of 82 percent.

As it finally turned out, the woman suffered from an acute corona infection. The patient’s condition deteriorated dramatically despite all the efforts of the doctors, according to the air ambulance. An acute emergency transfer with the intensive care transport helicopter of the ÖAMTC to the University Hospital St. Pölten was vital. The patient was flown on board with maximum intensive therapy, in the prone position and under the strictest hygiene measures. Shortly after touching down at the hospital in St. Pölten, the 52-year-old was connected to a heart-lung machine and received emergency medical care.
